Dry Ice Blasting

What is Dry Ice Blasting?

Dry ice blasting is an advanced cleaning technique in the automotive industry that employs solid carbon dioxide (CO₂) pellets to remove contaminants from vehicle components. The process involves propelling these pellets at high speeds toward surfaces, where they sublimate upon impact, lifting dirt, grease, and other residues without leaving any secondary waste.

Understanding Sublimation:

Sublimation is the process by which a substance transitions directly from a solid to a gas without passing through the liquid phase. In dry ice blasting, solid CO₂ pellets sublimate upon contact with the surface being cleaned, transforming into gas and effectively removing contaminants without leaving any residue.

Benefits of Dry Ice Blasting Over Traditional Cleaning Methods:

  1. Non-Abrasive Cleaning: Unlike methods such as sandblasting, dry ice blasting is non-abrasive, ensuring that sensitive automotive parts are not damaged during the cleaning process.
  2. Environmentally Friendly: The dry ice used is made from reclaimed CO₂, a byproduct of industrial processes, which means it doesn’t add additional CO₂ to the atmosphere. Moreover, it eliminates the need for harmful chemicals and solvents, reducing environmental pollution.
  3. No Secondary Waste: Since the dry ice pellets sublimate upon impact, there is no residue left behind. This eliminates the need for additional cleanup and disposal of blasting media, making the process cleaner and more efficient.
  4. Reduced Downtime: Dry ice blasting is a more efficient cleaning method, often resulting in reduced downtime for your vehicle. The process is faster than traditional cleaning methods, meaning your car can be back on the road in no time.
  5. Enhanced Cleaning Precision: The precision of dry ice blasting allows for targeted cleaning without affecting surrounding areas. This is particularly useful for intricate parts of your vehicle, such as the engine bay, underbody, and electrical components, where precision cleaning is crucial.

In summary, dry ice blasting offers a superior cleaning solution in the automotive industry by providing a non-abrasive, environmentally friendly, and efficient method that reduces downtime and enhances cleaning precision compared to traditional cleaning methods.

Our Ice blasting services

With all of our ice blasting services, we aim to provide comprehensive before and after imagery & videos highlighting any areas of concern regarding rust & corrosion which may have been previousy hidden.

Dry Ice Engine Bay Clean

from £300 +VAT

All components are cleaned from above, including the engine, ancillaries, pipe work and hoses, returning the engine bay to  factory fresh whilst removing the risk of water ingress with traditional cleaning methods.

Estimated duration 2-4 hours

Dry Ice Wheel Arch Clean

from £500 +VAT

Wheels are removed initially to allow for the arch liners to be removed. Arch linings are then removed to allow complete access to inner wheel arches, suspension components, brakes and wheel hub area.

Estimated duration 4-6 hours

Dry Ice Underbody & Chassis Clean

from £1300 +VAT

All undertrays are removed initially to allow for complete access to the underside of your vehicle.

We then meticulously clean all areas of the floorpan including all underbody components & drivetrain.

Estimated duration 9-12 hours

rUST PREVENTION & PROTECTION

Having had your vehicle cleaned with dry ice, it makes for the perfect time to add a layer of protection to prevent rust, therefore prolonging the life of your vehicle and avoiding costly repair bills.

Bilt Hamber Dynax UC

£100 +VAT

Dynax-UC is a new high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides a low film thickness, almost transparent protective shield. It’s firm, wax-like film is rich in unique metal-seeking corrosion inhibitors that halt existing and prevent new corrosion.

Dynax-UC can be applied to bare metal or painted surfaces, anywhere where a discrete and powerful inhibitor is needed.

Lanoguard

£200 +VAT

Lanoguard creates a hermetic seal on the vehicle's underbody, blocking oxygen, moisture, and salts to stop rust formation. Lanoguard is non-perishing and safe to use on rubbers and plastics, offering versatile protection without causing harm to these materials.

Lanoguard's protection lasts for a long time, offering robust and enduring protection against rust. It dries clear and forms a hermetic seal on your vehicle's underbody, preventing rust by blocking oxygen, moisture, and salts.
